General Safety Instructions for Electric Tools
WARNING: Read all safety instructions and operating directions. Failure to follow the safety instructions and directions may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury. Keep all safety instructions and operating directions for future reference. The term "electric tool" used in these safety instructions refers to both corded electric tools (with power cord) and cordless electric tools (without power cord).
1) Workplace Safety
a) Keep your work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark work areas can lead to accidents.
b) Do not operate the electric tool in explosive environments where flammable liquids, gases, or dust are present. Electric tools can produce sparks that may ignite dust or vapors.
c) Keep children and other persons away while operating the electric tool. Distractions may cause you to lose control of the device.
2) Electrical Safety
a) The plug of the electric tool must fit into the outlet. The plug must not be modified in any way. Do not use adapter plugs with grounded (earthed) electric tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets reduce the risk of electric shock.
b) Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, stoves, or refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is grounded.
c) Keep electric tools away from rain or moisture. Water entering an electric tool increases the risk of electric shock.
d) Do not misuse the cord to carry or hang the electric tool, or to pull the plug from the socket. Keep the cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges, or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.
e) When using an electric tool outdoors, use only extension cords suitable for outdoor use. Using an outdoor-rated extension cord reduces the risk of electric shock.
f) If operating an electric tool in a damp environment cannot be avoided, use a residual current device (RCD) or ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI). Using an RCD/GFCI reduces the risk of electric shock.
3) Personal Safety
a) Stay alert, be aware of what you are doing, and use common sense when operating an electric tool. Do not use electric tools when tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or medication. A moment of inattention while operating an electric tool may result in serious injury.
b) Wear personal protective equipment and always wear safety goggles. Wearing appropriate protective equipment—such as a dust mask, slip-resistant safety shoes, a safety helmet, or hearing protection—depending on the type and application of the electric tool, reduces the risk of injury.
c) Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure that the electric tool is switched off before connecting it to the power supply and/or battery, picking it up, or carrying it. Having your finger on the switch while carrying the tool or connecting it while powered may lead to accidents.
d) Remove adjusting tools or wrenches before switching on the electric tool. A tool or wrench left in a rotating part can cause injury.
e) Avoid awkward body positions. Maintain a firm footing and always keep your balance. This enables better control of the electric tool in unexpected situations.
f) Wear appropriate clothing. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep hair, clothing, and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothing, jewellery, or long hair may be caught by moving parts. If dust extraction or collection attachments can be used, ensure they are connected and properly used. Using dust extraction can reduce dust-related hazards.
4) Use and Handling of Electric Tools
a) Do not overload the tool. Use the correct electric tool for the job. The tool will work better and more safely within its specified performance range.
b) Do not use an electric tool with a defective switch. An electric tool that cannot be turned on or off is dangerous and must be repaired.
c) Disconnect the plug from the power outlet and/or remove the battery before making adjustments, changing accessories, or storing the tool. This precaution prevents accidental startup.
d) Store unused electric tools out of the reach of children. Do not allow persons unfamiliar with the tool or these instructions to operate it. Electric tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.
e) Maintain electric tools with care. Check that moving parts operate properly and are not
jammed, and that parts are not broken or damaged to the extent that the tool’s operation is impaired. Repair damaged parts before using the tool. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained electric tools.
f) Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Well-maintained cutting tools with sharp edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.
g) Use the electric tool, accessories, and cutting tools as intended and according to these instructions. Consider the working conditions and the task to be performed. Misusing electric tools for unintended purposes can lead to hazardous situations.
5) Service
Have your electric tool serviced only by qualified personnel and using only original replacement parts. This ensures that the safety of the tool is maintained.
Specific safety instructions
• Always assume that the tool contains fasteners. Careless handling of the tacker can result in unexpected firing of fasteners and personal injury.
• Do not point the tool towards yourself or anyone nearby. Unexpected triggering could discharge the fastener causing an injury.
• Do not actuate the tool unless the tool is placed firmly against the workpiece. If the tool is not in contact with the workpiece, the fastener may be deflected away from your target.
• Disconnect the tool from the power source when the fastener jams in the tool. While
removing a jammed fastener, the tacker may be accidentally activated if it is plugged in.
• Use caution while removing a jammed fastener. The mechanism may be under compression and the fastener may be forcefully discharged while attempting to free a jammed condition.
• Do not use this tacker for fastening electrical cables. It is not designed for electric cable
installation and may damage the insulation of electric cables thereby causing electric shock or fire hazards.
Before using the tacker
• Check the following points:
- Do the voltage of the engine and the engine safe-guard, if any, correspond to the mains voltage (appliances for a mains voltage of 220-240 V);
- Are the mains lead and the mains plug in a good condition: solid, without any loose ends or damage.
• Always wear eye protection when using the tool. Maintain the tool with care.
• Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts, and any other
condition that may affect the tools operation. If damaged, have the tool serviced before using.
• Check if the slide cartridge has been fastened properly.
• Do not use the tool in a humid environment.
• Do not use the tool on materials containing asbestos.
• Secure the workpiece firmly. Use clamps or a vice to firmly hold the workpiece. This results in a safer grip than with your hand.
• Always ensure that the cable is behind the device.
Using the tool
• Do not use the tool if the switch does not move in “Lock” or “Unlock” position.
• Always hold the tool with two hands while starting.
• Always keep the cord away from the moving parts of the machine.
• Keep your hands away from the work piece.
• In the case of jamming by a nail or staple, switch the machine immediately in lock
position and remove the plug from the mains.
• Never aim the tool at people or animals.
• Use only staples or nails fit for this tool.
• Make sure not to damage any leads when using the tool.
Electrical safety
When using electric machines always observe the safety regulations applicable in your country to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock and personal injury. Read the following safety instructions and also the enclosed safety instructions.
• Always check that the power supply corresponds to the voltage on the rating plate.
• Class II machine. Your machine is double insulated; therefore no earthwire is required.
Replacing cables or plug
If replacement of the power cord is required, it must be carried out by the manufacturer or an
authorized representative to avoid safety hazards.
Using extension cables
Only use an approved extension cable suitable for the power input of the machine. The minimum conductor size is 1.5 mm2. When using a cable reel always unwind the reel completely.
Remove all staples/nails from the magazine after each use
